20100422 A collie that I had purchased named Vienna has been removed from my breeding program because of some fraud activity in her past pedigree. It is being investigated. Of course I am very upset and I can not even see straight.but it is good that I found this out before I had a litter from her.

20100421 wed We work at Herding Trials this weekend and looking forward to being around all the collie people and breeders that actually do things with their collies. When you get your new collie pup it will be the most rewarding experience to do as many different fun dog events as you can.

20100429 Monday
You might think my life is boring each day living for my collies.
I don't think so.
My favorite is all my young boys. They are a trip. Full of innocent personality and playful energy.
They are all still young enough to get along with each other when I walk them around the 20 acres. (we own 10 and lease the 10 next to us) They all run fast in big circles that make 20 acres look small. They keep watch for me because if I give the word they get a treat so they will come fast.
I need exercise so the best thing is for me to go for a walk everyday across the land.
I choose to take all my young males. They run loose all around me and it is a wild time for them Olympus is still the winner with his huge giant sized strides moving fast because of his strong muscles,   to go with his big frame.

Yankee would be next fastest if I allowed him to go but he is the oldest male and is obsessive with trying to look tough if he can see the young males in his sites. I recently found I had to move him to a pen where he can not see the young males. Yankee gets private time running in some of our small pastures with some girls.

This is great exercise for the boys because when we get back they volunteer to go in my makeshift outdoor timeout pens that I had made in a big pen, just to separate them in case while I was not looking they might practice rough domination acts on each other. I fixed up the timeout pens so they can not do fence fight fun game either.hehehe
The weather has been so very nice but they all have a place in the house too.  They have their own entrance to the house for muddy day but they all know how to make themselves at home.  I just do not want them all the time. Certainly not loose inside all at once! That would be crazy. They are happiest outdoors in good weather. For hot weather they spend cool times inside each with their own nice crate that keeps them private and cozy from waking each other up.

The nature of male hormones is another reason that you would want to have your male neutered if you want a family member. Collies are wonderful but a breeding collie can not help but to have moments of strong hormones put the nature of procreation in their personality.
All breeds of all animals have that issue with unfixed animals. Males and females. The only time an unfixed male does not have nature show off strong hormones is if he
never has been around other males or
never has bred a female or
never has developed strong hormones or
if he has been dominated by another dog strongly while he was young and it stayed in his personality.

20100414 Sunday I have removed a purchased collie from my breeding program because of problems in the pedigree from the back line. These are risks when you pay high prices for any collie from breeders that are not well known. I have been told it looks like fraud.  It is being investigated by the AKC.

Breeding is expensive. I have spent endless dollars on tests on many collies that I could never use for breeding and had to let go to homes.  I have bought many collies that did not grow up good enough for breeding and it was a loss.

Each time buying or breeding is a risk of high costs if it is done right.    I will keep trying as I can .   It is NOT cheap to buy an adult breeding age collie, even from your own lines. This causes negative cash flow of my collie funds and a set back in breeding goals.

20100413   I do send out news letters every now and again to all Honeytree collie people that have a Honeytree collie. If you are interested in getting the news letter then send me an email with your request.

For instance Honeytree Collies has a date set for a herding training day!   So far about 8 families have signed up and we will meet at the Herding instructors place for a day of fun and herding training at a group discount. Of course the collies have a good time because they think they are chasing sheep.

Honeytree has more things lined up for the year of many other ideas and it is good to know all that are interested. Even if you do not have a Honeytree collie. You are welcome.  There are grooming classes, different training seminars, we also have training seminars on health tests and which ones will benefit each families needs .

So it might seem that I have not been writing on the blog as much it is because I have been collie busy.  But do keep checking because I have a craving to try and be interesting so I might say something shocking, hehehe

Also we do accept visitors so keep that in mind.

Take a look at this link of a recent family visit with their collie, Cashmere. Look how happy their collie sits at command for their child when ready to leave.  A child can have a good day enjoying some Honeytree collies around them.
